Running Symbian MOAP(S) v6 , This clamshell device has a sophisticated stainless steel panel with a HairLine finish and a slim design just 11.4mm thick. The device comes preloaded with lots of business apps like -

1-  Business Card Reader: an application that allows you to register company names and addresses simply by taking photos of business cards

2- New Words Dictionary and Spelling Dictionary:  English-Japanese and Japanese-English dictionaries Reader.

3-  Document Viewer: For viewing Microsoft Office documents.

4- Mail Referring Reply: which allows you to create a reply email whilst referring to a received email by horizontally splitting the screen into two.

5- Shot Memo: which helps improve the quality of shots of meeting minutes written on a whiteboard.

6- Triple Clear Talk: which emphasises human voices and makes it easier to hear callers by cutting out surrounding noise and echo.

Good news for Symbian Foundation, According to Canalys market trends report, Symbian has shipped on more than 27 million smartphones around the globe during the second quarter of 2010. Which is about 207 Symbian smartphone shipped every minute from 1st April until 30th June- Wow!

Lee Williams, Executive Director of Symbian, gave the foundation’s official response to these results earlier today, saying:

“These figures make for very positive news for the Symbian community. The smartphone market place has become more crowded than ever. So the fact we continue to outsell our competitors by such large margins, combined with all the feature commitments and developments published on our roadmaps, make us highly confident in our outlook and we will continue to embrace the challenges ahead.”

All this figures shows the solid performance of Symbian in 2010 Q2. Boldly Symbian is catching up the smartphone market.

In our previous post we have given you a closer look at Symbian Foundation’s upcoming Mobile OS Symbian^3. On June 17th the Symbian community officially completed development of the biggest and most exciting Symbian software update yet.

The first PDK based on Symbian^3 (S^3) since it achieved its Functionally Complete (FC) milestone  is now available to download. The PDK contains a full build of the Symbian^3 platform along with the corresponding source code, giving developers access to the S^3 feature set and providing the community with the means to engage with us on taking S^3 into devices.

S^3 represents a major step forward in the Symbian platform, providing a greatly improved user experience, multiple personalised homescreens, an exciting and advanced multimedia experience including HDMI support, the introduction of Next Generation Graphics, better data networking and much, much more! Symbian also commissioned a great new theme for the S^3 platform called “Fresh” which is included for the first time in this PDK

Symbian Foundation released a Platform Release Plan for S^2, S^3 & S^3 OS, Which says that Symbian^3 is now in FC state -mean Symbian^3 is now “Functionally Complete not Feature Complete” and its in a good enough state for the community to start developing it further.
