Symbian Belle (PR3.0) spotted on Nokia N8!


I think, its the first time we got any hands-on proof of Symbian Belle. Christian Espinosa a Mobile journalism professor has shared a picture over Twitter showing Nokia N8 running the Symbian Belle (aka PR3.0) update.

Previously we have seen some enhanced UI images of upcoming Symbian update over Forum Nokia , which was interpreted as Symbian Belle (PR3.0). Christian Espinosa has also posted about his picked image on his site, giving title ‘The new Symbian Anna vs Symbian 3‘, So is that mean that the new refreshed UI is coming with Symbian Anna update or Christian has misinterpreted.

    I sure with these ROMs would leak like the android ROM’ : been seeing pictures of Anna/PR2 since winter.. now Bella/PR3.. i’d run it now can’t really be any worse than PR1.2… at least they’d have full portrait QWERTY/swype.

    The Belle update is a QT based interface that Nokia are still working on. It more or less equates to the planned Symbian 4 update abandoned last year.
    Nokia have built a beautiful platform which takes advantage of QML/QT and relies less on more cumbersome, java based extensions . Hopefully this will bring a more fluid, feature rich experience to the Symbian platform (not that it’s dragging its feet in terms of features).

    Anna will come to ALL S^3 devices by the end of Q3, meaning it might ship in Q2 but all the different carriers will be the bottleneck/new filter so that by the end of Q3 everyone should be able to update but all the operators need to approve and customize for their specific network.

    Anyone with a non-branded device might get it sooner, transition Q2/Q3.
