Nokia confirms 808 PureView was the last Symbian smartphone
With the release of its Q4 financial results, Nokia has officially confirmed that the Nokia 808 PureView was their last smartphone to be powered by the Symbian OS.

Stated in the financial report, Nokia confirms that the company will no longer be developing any phones based on the Symbian operating system.
‘During our transition to Windows Phone through 2012, we continued to ship devices based on Symbian. The Nokia 808 PureView, a device which showcases our imaging capabilities and which came to market in mid-2012, was the last Symbian device from Nokia.’
Nokia earnings release today shows that the company managed to sell a total of 2.2 million Symbian phones during the last quarter, half the number of Lumia Windows-Phone units shifted in the same period, which is presumably due to high demand for the camera powerhouse 808 PureView.
End of an era :/
But the show must go on…….stay tuned for some big changes here!
