Yes, much awaited Firmware PR 1.2 update of Nokia N900 hits today. Let me take you through N900 Firmware (version 10.2010.19-1) over-the-air update.

First ensure that the battery of your N900 is fully charged and do make backups of your data,  just in-case. Now to update the N900 with new firmware using Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA):- Just launch the “Application Manager” and select “Update” – now follow the instructions -

The new firmware update is 113.1 MB in size .

The Application details – Summary shows the New add-on components to be added after the update on Maemo 5 OS .

Where the Application details: Updating part -shows the required device memory ( Which is about 20.6 MB in size ) & the different application packages the new firmware contains.

The Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) update do ask you to create backup of all your personal data,  just in-case. Which is the good thing.

Next step is of downloading the update packages, which is of 113.1 MB in size- take about 20 mins.

After successfully downloading the Maemo update packages the update actually starts, which take about another 20 min to complete.
