Nokia has its own reasons for this change:

1. Don’t tell us what to do with our phones

Most phones nowadays have very adaptable hardware and software. You can do whatever you like with it. Perhaps you use your Eseries business smartphone mainly for games or IM-ing friends? Maybe you’re crunching numbers on a spreadsheet using an entertainment-focused Nokia X7? That’s up to you – the classifications were indicators, but often, they didn’t match-up to what people were actually doing with their phones.

2. Hard to compare

How is the Nokia C7 different than a Nokia X7? It all depends what you want to do with it and what your budget is. What about comparing a Nokia C3 and a Nokia C3-01? It turns out they’re actually very different devices. Also, it made it hard to tell how much something should cost. To the average person, a Nokia C7 should cost the same as a Nokia E7. They have a point.

3. People are fine with numbers

People understand the logic behind ‘the bigger the number, the more you get’ philosophy. Theoretically speaking, if we were announce a Nokia 890 (which, to be very clear, does not exist), but it’s a bit out of your price range, you’ll know that the Nokia 790 (again, this model doesn’t exist. Yet.  ) might be a more affordable option. Also, used consistently over time, people learn to know roughly what to expect from a model using its number as a reference.

According to this new there digit product naming system -  The very first digit denotes the relative price/feature point of the product. Eg. a Nokia 900* would be top dog and a Nokia 100* is the most accessible option. The second two digits of the product gives each device a unique identifier within that point. So Nokia can have 99 phones at the 500 point.

The Nokia’s new business powerhouse Nokia E7 belongs to Eseries range of devices, inherit some basic hardware design from Nokia’s entertainment Nseries smartphone N97.

The Nokia E7′s qwerty slider keyboard is wider then N97 mini – having more space brings a little bit bigger spread out keys in four-row. This allows a bigger spacebar key centered instead of set to the right. Also to notice that E7 has a dedicated @ key situated to the left of the keyboard.

In full brightness, Nokia E7′s 4 inch amoled screen looks much brighter and clear.

 

E7′s slid out mechanism is borrowed from N97 slide out, although Nokia has refined it a lot by making the slide smoother. There are two ‘screen stoppers’  t0 hold the screen upright.

The Front Side:- E7 has centered menu key all with front facing camera with sensors.

The Back Side:- E7 has 8MP where N97 mini has 5MP AF camera, supported with duel LED flash. E7 has secondary mic and mono speaker at the back.

 

The Top:- E7 has HDMI , micro USB, Standard 3.5 mm AV connector and power button at the top. N97 has the power button and Standard 3.5 mm AV connector.

 

The Bottom- N97 mini has inlet for a lanyard at the bottom. E7 has the primary mic.

Left Side: –  N97 mini has sliding screenlock key, open micro USB port and stereo speakers. Where E7 has sliding screenlock key.

Right Side: – E7 has a dedicated camera key, spring controlled volume rocker and SIM sliding slot. Where N97 mini has two stage dedicated camera key and separated volume keys.
