Nokia N900 seems to be most popular smartphone among hackers and modders. We have already seen many N900 moddings, take the example of Brain Scanner, installing webOS and Ice Cream Sandwich, Well here is the craziest one – a Polish hacker Emeryth created a thumb-friendly gamepad to enjoy hours of gameplay, also the gamepad some how dock into the N900 keyboard and connects to the device via the MicroUSB port, check out the video after break.

The gamepad has been made using an ATmega8A microcontroller and plugs directly into the device’s Micro USB port, giving gamers an eight button joy, plus a PSP-like analog stick!

Video: MeeGo 1.3 CE Fall Edition test on Nokia N900

Check out this quick video test of Meego 3.1 Comunity Edition Fall Release for Nokia N900. The release v1.3 enables some basic function/apps on N900, but lacks many features as it is still under developing stage, video after break.

MeeGo 1.3 Fall Edition is based on MeeGo 1.3 Core and loads Qt version 4.8. As compared to the previous version 1.2, this release seems to be much more fluid and fast. Basic applications like – Telephone, SMS, Web and Package manager are now working. But still this release is under development and lacks features, have many bugs and also its not suitable for everyday use.

Video: MeeToDo – To-Do app for MeeGo, Maemo and Symbian

App guru Tommi Laukkanen is working on new Qt app called “MeeToDo”, a simple to-do application for getting things done. He released a very early alpha version of the app for MeeGo, Maemo and Symbian device with minimal set of features. App demo and download link after break.

“So, here is the first alpha version of the to-do / GTD app called MeeToDo. It currently has minimal set of features: Lists and tasks. User can add new tasks pretty fast and can mark them done with a single tap. There is also a “purge” features which I find handy e.g. doing grocery shopping. Some of the future ideas include Google Tasks integration.”

MeeGo 1.2 Community Edition now available for Nokia N900 (Summer Release)

Quick heads-up, Another build of MeeGo 1.2 Community Edition, the Summer Release, has just been released for Nokia N900.

“Community Edition is an edition of the core MeeGo 1.2. The Community Edition is developed with the ARM and handset compatibility in mind, this way developers already owning a N900 device may start developing with it immediately.

Well, if you have the Nokia N900 and want to get your hands-on this MeeGo release, Just go ahead and install this Summer Release.

N900 Meego ‘Developer Edition’ is now ‘Community Edition’

Quick heads-up, Before Meego “Developer Edition” summer release scheduled 23 June, MeeGo_Qa mailing list today announced that Meego “Developer Edition” for N900 will change its name to “Community Edition”.

Well, the real purpose of this change has not been announced in the mail, Check out the copy of mail from MeeGo_Qa mailing list.

Because the N900 DE changed it’s name to N900 Community Edition = N900CE, following changes are done in Bugzilla:

Keyword N900 –> N900CE
If you see any bugs with N900CE keyword and doesn’t occure with CE image, please feel free to remove the keyword, I will do that also.
(HW) Platform -> N900 for every bug having the old N900 Keyword
MeeGo_N900DE_Release_Blocker -> MeeGo_N900CE_Release_Blocker

Remember to update your search strings, the older ones doesn’t work anymore if you have used DE there.

When filing a new bug for the N900CE, use prefix [CE] in the summary. If it’s not only CE bug, the prefix needs to be removed.
Add platform N900.
