This is my entry to the Ovi Blog Nokia World 2010 competition.

“I should get a ticket to Nokia World 2010 because I have better understanding and insight to the needs and wants of Indian Mobile users from Rural areas to the Metro ”

I would like to represent my country India in Nokia World 2010 because I have better understanding and insight to the needs and wants of Mobile users from Rural to Metro areas of this giant country, whose economic growth rate is one of fastest in the world with so much of fragmentation in almost all aspects of its socioeconomic stratum.

I belong to the part of India, where daily income of lower class is less than $5 a day and surprisingly most of them have mobiles phones now, some still use Nokia but most of them prefer to use the cheaper brands available. Well, most of us are aware of it. We have witnessed it in each level – The News is not new.

Indians have different priorities as compare to its western counterparts, from villages to metros and where the number of basic mobile users outnumbered the Smartphone users by huge margin in this developing country (thanks to the service providers and the heat of losing market share, which few big companies have already feeling) and the masses in villages and rural areas uses their Mobile device as a entertainment channel as well as more as need based product.

You can find almost 7 out of 10 mobile uses using his device to watch Movies or for Listing Music during the Free or Travel time and using their mobile as torch and radio news in India and all on that cheap Touchscreen mobile device. I am not focusing this to only entertainment area.

Nokia has given Ovi Life Tools – But, the ground reality here is that, the common average people in villages/town don’t even know about these services and those who know afraid to use due to false operator’s billing.

Considering India is the one of the most strategically important market, the possibilities are Endless for Nokia.

Nokia is missing something seriously, they are trying at their best in research and still working on projects like  Nokia Instant Community. But the end user here need’s best (Value for money) within their device for the usability for their daily needs.

I have given my hard years in Blogging on Nokia and its Service, and now contributing as a Moderator in Symbian Ideas Project (representing India), Symbian Foundation honored me this position considering my work in Ideas for mobile device. And I am still, working under Ideas from last one year to shape the future of Mobile.

I have contributed some of my idea’s to enhance the mobile device usability for actual end users. Because I believe it’s the mobile phone from where the most technological innovations reached directly to the masses/end users in its fastest form and enhance their standard of living along withmaking communication faster in all forms.

Some of my Ideas to Symbain:

1- Walky Talky

Can be used for short range communication in Home and Offices, and useful in natural during calamities and save many lives.  The same question again come, we have the technology and most of them already implemented on our devices now days. So why not use them for the Good.

2- Recycle Bin

Accident do happens, Recycle Bin is the need of today’s mobile phone to recover you deleted items. It’s the most basic need of Mobile device users. Isn’t it?

3- SMS Forwarding Via Bluetooth

Have you ever tried to forward an SMS from your Nokia inbox to the friend sitting just beside you via Bluetooth (Option not Present). I know you can do this with your Smartphone by going a long way. But the question is Why?  When you have the technology for which you have already paid.

I know some of these are harder to implement and not as easy as they appear, But we have to start.

Taking into points to these Ideas, I have many (Please find the link in the end of the post).

Being a diehard fan of Nokia from past ten yrs, starting from my first Nokia 3315. Nokia has always given us a lot  from Free Navigation on Ovi Maps to Nokia Life Tools, and still working on MeeGo with Intel. Who know’s the outcome  will change the future of developing countries – will be a  100$ Meego tablet.

I just want to contribute together with Nokia the best for the upliftment of the society, because Mobile Phones have now become a necessity an indispensible part of human life.

People behind WomWorld/Nokia and Ovi Blog are Nokia’s hidden tools, working hard behind the scene 24*7, interacting with the World is not an easy task- “Hats off to them“.  The outcome is definitely going to be stunning and I want to be with these good people  in Nokia World this year to witness this Mega Event of my life.

“I hope Nokia will definitely prefer a contributer rather then a cheerleader for Nokia World 2010.”

Let’s hope something Big, the best from Nokia in this Nokia World 2010.

Good news for Symbian Foundation, According to Canalys market trends report, Symbian has shipped on more than 27 million smartphones around the globe during the second quarter of 2010. Which is about 207 Symbian smartphone shipped every minute from 1st April until 30th June- Wow!

Lee Williams, Executive Director of Symbian, gave the foundation’s official response to these results earlier today, saying:

“These figures make for very positive news for the Symbian community. The smartphone market place has become more crowded than ever. So the fact we continue to outsell our competitors by such large margins, combined with all the feature commitments and developments published on our roadmaps, make us highly confident in our outlook and we will continue to embrace the challenges ahead.”

All this figures shows the solid performance of Symbian in 2010 Q2. Boldly Symbian is catching up the smartphone market.

In our previous post we have given you a closer look at Symbian Foundation’s upcoming Mobile OS Symbian^3. On June 17th the Symbian community officially completed development of the biggest and most exciting Symbian software update yet.

The first PDK based on Symbian^3 (S^3) since it achieved its Functionally Complete (FC) milestone  is now available to download. The PDK contains a full build of the Symbian^3 platform along with the corresponding source code, giving developers access to the S^3 feature set and providing the community with the means to engage with us on taking S^3 into devices.

S^3 represents a major step forward in the Symbian platform, providing a greatly improved user experience, multiple personalised homescreens, an exciting and advanced multimedia experience including HDMI support, the introduction of Next Generation Graphics, better data networking and much, much more! Symbian also commissioned a great new theme for the S^3 platform called “Fresh” which is included for the first time in this PDK
