Today Nokia and the Symbian Foundation made a decision in future management of Symbian operating system. The foundation will become a legal entity responsible for licensing software and other intellectual property, such as the Symbian trademark and Nokia is now going to handle all governance including future development of the Symbian platform available to the ecosystem via an alternative direct and open model.

Today just after publishing Q3 2010 financial results Nokia issued two more press releases. Announcing reduction of about 1,800 employees globally to increase its responsiveness to consumer demands & reduce time to market, And also to bring more focus on Qt and HTML5 support for both Symbian and MeeGo platforms.
Symbian Foundation’s head Lee Williams has stepped down from his role, He is to be replaced by Tim Holbrow with immediate effect.
